Zambians will cast their vote next week on 11 August 2016. They have a mammoth task ahead of them, having to vote for president and running mate, MPs, councillors, mayors and council chairperson as well as partake in the referendum on the Bill of Rights. The most talked about election is the presidential one, as this will determine the colour of the next government, green for PF’s Edgar Lungu or red for UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema. None of the other candidates has a chance in these elections. It is will be a close call between the two, as neither of them is likely to secure the required 50%+1 majority. Instead, a re-run will have to be held between them within 30 days, and this is where the other parties become significant, as they decide which candidate to support. Happy voting!
