More and more people are wondering who’s in charge of the opposition UPND party, with its president Hakainde Hichilema (HH) in prison, and its vice-president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba nowhere to be seen. In fact, the ruling PF party went to the extent of suggesting that one of UPND’s alliance partners, the opposition ADD party’s president, Charles Milupi, was in charge. This was denied by Milupi, who clarified that he may be the leader of a political alliance between UPND, MMD, ADD and the People’s Party, but that it is “outrageous” to suggest that he has taken over UPND. He explained that the UPND is currently being headed by its national chairperson Mutale Nalumango in line with the UPND’s constitution.
