GBM in DundumweziThe opposition UPND party robbed the ruling PF party of a great publicity stunt when its vice-president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) visited the remote Dundumwezi Constituency in Southern Province. The area has remained undeveloped, and its residents voted overwhelmingly for Hakainde Hichilema (UPND) in the elections in August, giving him 30,810 votes, while President Lungu (PF) got 252 votes. Yet, at a thanksgiving rally right after the elections, Lungu announced that even the 252 voters in Dundumwezi had contributed to him reaching the 50%+1 threshold, and thus promised to visit them during his inauguration: “I am coming to greet those 252 dear supporters of mine and hope to convert more!” GBM was in the constituency, accompanied by several UPND MPs and officials, as the guest of honour at the Lwiindi Ceremony of the Tonga People.
