Undikumbukire Project (UP) Zambia seeks to support juveniles in conflict with the law in Zambia through legal representation, social support and advocacy. UP was founded in 2014, when a group of community members in Lusaka began to supply blankets, toiletries and other items to juveniles in Kamwala Remand Prison in Lusaka, expecting to simply leave the donations, but discovering that the boys were desperate to interact, asking not to be forgotten. And so Undikumbukire Project – meaning “remember me” – began. You can support by volunteering to visit or mentor juveniles in prison. Lawyers seeking to make a difference by taking up a juvenile criminal case on a pro bono basis are particularly welcome. More information here.
