The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has written to Finance Bank and Barclays Bank, ordering them to freeze the accounts of Lamasat International and remit up to K14.01 million owed to ZRA. In February 2017, the High Court stopped Finance Bank from appointing a receiver for Lamasat, after the two parties fell out over a loan facility of $13.41 million. Lamasat produces plastic piping systems, but was this week also reported to have ventured into the construction of two elite housing projects in Lilayi and Leopards Hill in Lusaka together with Hawai of Egypt. The signing ceremony for the projects was grazed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela, suggesting that Lamasat has its connections.
